For Year 6 children during revision for the SATs. 30 questions on Grammar and Punctuation (with answer grid for pupils and teacher) to print, laminate and place around the school buildings and grounds. The children then go out and find the questions, work out the answers and write the answers on their answer grid.
This resource includes: A Powerpoint presentation and PDF.
It has a Powerpoint presentation with instructions on planning for the poems to include - nouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs for Year 3/4 with similes and metaphors extra to add for Y5/6. The pupils look at and discuss the larger pictures on the PPT, then they choose one that they will write about. The Powerpoint includes 13 underwater images, from basking sharks to garden eels.
From the PDF, print off the same pictures as on the PPT, there are Y3/4 versions and Y5/6 versions - the pupils show in different colours which word class they are writing and fill in the key at the side. Included in the PDF is a completed Y3/4 version and completed Y5/6 example.
When the pupils have completed these sheets, they then use them to write a poem using the great images that they have created.
Instructions
Use these resources to teach your class about converting from miles to kilometres.
Print, cut out and laminate the conversion matching cards. You can attach these to lolly sticks if you like. Keep the miles cards and hide the kilometre cards around the class or yard.
Give the children a little Porsche each with reminders about converting miles and kilometres, and they can stick it in their book.
Then show the children the ‘Converting miles to kilometres’ Powerpoint and help them to convert the measures.
After this, give the children the 5 quick check questions which they answer on the sheet and stick in their book.
If they understand how to convert, then give them the miles to km table to stick in their book, or have on a clip board. Also, give the group the miles cards. They must look at the miles and convert it to km, then run and find the card which matches their answer. They continue with this until they have all of the cards matched up. Then they check with the teacher and mark their answers.
I hope that your class have fun with this activity—my class really enjoy active Maths sessions.
